After exploring Jame Luna’s work and seeing how he approaches his identity within his artwork, I began to reflect on my own identity. I was born in Mexico and was raised in America. I don't have a darker complexion or a Mexican accent when speaking English and when I speak Spanish I don't have a dialect. Looking at James Luna and seeing how he was born in Orange, California but found himself comfortable moving between these two spaces of being and existing as an “Indian in this modern society”. I currently find myself in the “middle ground” not here nor there. I wish to move freely as Jame luna did and to bring awareness to those who are in a similar situation as I am.
